To promote and support innovation in Austin’s communication arts industry by responding to the needs of its members through informational programs and continuing education, networking and social opportunities, and legislative advocacy.
Founded in 1932 as the Men’s Advertising Club of Austin, the Austin Ad Fed (the local chapter of the American Advertising Federation, or AAF) is a not-for-profit professional association of members from all areas of advertising and related industries. The Ad Fed supports Austin’s vast marketing and creative community as a positive force in the Central Texas economy and culture, and promotes its stature in the highly competitive national advertising community. We’re the only local professional association that binds the mutual interests of advertisers, advertising and PR agencies, media companies, suppliers and academia.
The Austin Ad Fed provides value to members through networking events, volunteer opportunities, educational support, an active job board and a regular schedule of professional development programs. The Ad Fed hosts high-profile, annual events like the Hispanic Marketing Symposium and Big Wig Awards (honoring advertising-related vendors and services). The Austin Ad Fed also hosts Austin’s premiere ad industry event, the American Advertising Awards (formerly the ADDY’s), which are the gateway to regional and national ADDY competitions, where our winners routinely win in numbers well in excess of our market size.
As of 2014, the Ad Fed had grown to 1,895 members, an increase of 1,743 from 2008. Austin Ad Fed employs one part-time staff member and is served by an active board of directors whose members are actively engaged across the full spectrum of advertising, marketing, education and ad-related industries.
From 2010–2013, the Austin Ad Fed earned the prestigious Division 1 Club of the Year Award, besting AAF clubs from the nation’s largest advertising markets. (The competition is based on eight club achievement categories).
