The Austin Ad Fed makes a real difference to local non-profit organizations by putting our members' expertise to work advertising, marketing and promoting worthy causes, resulting in exponential increases in revenues and awareness.
Here are some of the projects Austin Ad Fed members are currently involved with. You can volunteer with a click of your mouse.
AustinFree.Net — Bridging the Digital Divide. In this wired world, computer literacy is almost as important as reading. AustinFree.Net provides free computer training at community centers around town. Join Ad Fed volunteers from GSD&M, Go9 Media, The Austin American-Statesman, Moximity.com, and St. Edwards University as we develop an imaginative marketing plan to reach low-income and underserved populations.
AustinProBono.org — A Dating Service for Creatives and Non-Profits
AustinProBono.org is a groundbreaking website that connects non-profits with marketing creatives who want to Do. Good. Work.
This "virtual clearinghouse" allows non-profits to reach out to freelancers, marketing firms and ad agencies directly with their requests for ads, websites, brochures, etc.
Businesses indicate their availability with a green/red light, and choose which projects to take. By listing at APB.org, businesses can control the flood of pro-bono requests, by simply telling callers to apply through the website.
And freelancers and students can build their portfolios by building goodwill.
APB.org is a joint project of the Austin Ad Fed, Sentient Services, GSD&M, EnviroMedia, Greenlights for Non-Profits, Game Plan Marketing and Events and others. ________________________________________
Hill Country Ride for AIDS. Shattering Goals, Saving Lives
The Hill Country Ride for AIDS is the largest AIDS fundraiser in Central Texas. Over 75% of funds raised directly support 10 Austin-area AIDS service providers: http://www.hillcountryride.org
As a direct result of Ad Fed volunteer efforts, the HCRA has grown from $186,000 to $697,000 in six short years, thanks to brilliant creative produced pro-bono by Ad Fed members like nFusion's HRCA campaign, that won 9 Austin and District Gold ADDYS in 2009.
So, yeah, you get a little something back when you give it away.
One thing that's certain about ad people -- we like to get together; to learn, to share, to network; to party. (Often simultaneously.) So the Austin Ad Fed holds a number of events throughout the year to satisfy all of those desires.
