CURRENT STUDENT OF THE SEMESTER

Congratulations to Erin Landy of the University of Texas for being selected as the Austin Ad Federation “Student of the Semester” of Spring 2011

A quick glance at University of Texas advertising major, Erin Landy’s work, and it is obvious that she is a rising star. Not only does she excel academically, but her leadership and industry experience set her apart as a “must hire” when she graduates in May 2011.

Erin was President of UT’s TAG (Texas Advertising Group) in 2010 where she managed a 150 member organization, led 11 officers, and acted as faculty liaison. She also served as account management director for TAGlines, the UT student ad agency. As such she oversaw the agency to make sure that tasks were completed in a timely and professional manner.

Her industry experience through internships in Austin and Chicago is impressive to say the least. She completed internships, primarily in account management, at Austin-based agencies Tocquigny Interactive, Caplan Miller Events, Kolar Advertising and Marketing, and GSM&M Idea City, as well as DraftFCB in Chicago. Accounts that she worked on included: Southwest Airlines, Del Monte Pet, Samuels Jewelers and Hyatt Regency Property.

As if leadership and industry experience weren’t enough, Erin was also the recipient of several awards: the AAF 10th District Innovation and Leadership in Advertising Internship/Scholarship, and the Advertising Media Planning Best in Show Award, Fall 2009 and Spring 2010. She is also a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
