About this Event
GSD&M and AAF/Austin will host agencies and small and diverse vendors, encouraging introductions and interaction with the hope that agency contacts become more aware of available vendor partners for inclusion in future bids.
This virtual event will be educational as well as celebratory for our small and diverse vendor partners.
It will showcase their crafts, talents, creativity and work they produce to make our agencies vibrant and our clients’ products and services rewarding.
It is an opportunity for small and diverse vendors to meet with agency contacts via breakout rooms, curated by specialty area.
Founded in 1932 as the Men’s Advertising Club of Austin, AAF Austin (the local chapter of the American Advertising Federation, or AAF) is a not-for-profit professional association of members from all areas of advertising and related industries. AAF Austin (formerly Austin Ad Fed) supports Austin’s vast marketing and creative community as a positive force in the Central Texas economy and culture, and promotes its stature in the highly competitive national advertising community. We’re the only local professional association that binds the mutual interests of advertisers, advertising and PR agencies, media companies, suppliers and academia.
In 1971, some recent University of Texas graduates didn’t know you couldn’t open a national ad agency in a little college town known primarily for hippies and armadillos. They hustled their way into some presentations, came up with some smart ideas, and learned how to make money doing what they loved. And it worked. This courageous group helped elect a president, launch an airline, turn Walmart into a global retail force, even gave Texas its rallying cry. Their bravery is now our modus operandi. Today we are a global agency in the music, food and “weird” capital of the world. We’ve won the Super Bowl, cleaned up at Cannes and continue to help iconic brands win every day. We live by our core values and believe an agency should be able to think like the diverse, multicultural world that it’s talking with. We think it’s better to be honest than cool.
