Speaker #1: Kirsten Cutshall
CEO, Steel Branding
Steel Branding is a full-service integrated ad agency offering branding, advertising, marketing, and public relations firm that focuses on marketing to the Family in the Digital Age. We study decision makers in households with children and apply the sciences of economics, psychology, and anthropology to carve and refine brands to increase the power of their marketing. So rather than merely focusing on a capability, market, or tactic, we focus on the social dynamics and habits of the family life cycle as it grows and moves in everyday life.
Kirsten Cutshall provides strategic direction from audience insights. Kirsten dives into the unique challenges of each organization and then lays out a vision for the communications campaign which will affect the changes in public perception needed to reach our ultimate goal. She stays on assigned accounts to measure effectiveness, make strategic adjustments and innovations, and ensure the brand’s growth and effectiveness.

Speaker #2: Shannon Moorman
VP Talent Recruitment, GSD&M
Shannon Moorman, a native Texan raised in the small town of Brady, began her career as a recruiter for startups in Austin, and in 2003, she took on the advertising industry in New York City. There, she established Aquent New York’s digital talent capabilities before joining R/GA in 2005 as the recruitment manager. Later, as director of creative resources at R/GA, she designed an entirely new model for the shop’s recruitment and resource management teams and assumed leadership over global recruiting efforts across 13 offices worldwide. After serving on R/GA’s global leadership team for five years, earning the agency numerous accolades for efforts in diversity and inclusion, she returned to Texas to open R/GA’s Austin office.
In 2014, Shannon hopped across the street to Austin-based GSD&M to lead the agency’s talent initiatives. Today, she is instrumental in restructuring the agency’s model as it pertains to recruitment and utilizing talent. She is also a thought leader for talent and change outside the agency, participating in conferences, speaking on panels, and interviewing with key industry press, such as Advertising Age and Digiday specifically, about the changing agency model and
Shannon currently serves on the boards for 4A’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee as well as the talent boards for both the Austin Chamber of Commerce and the Creative Circus advertising school. When she’s not leading the conversation for industry change and identifying and recruiting critical talent, you can find her on a ski life, wining and dining at Austin’s newest restaurants, or exploring with family.
Speaker #3: Cindy Montgomery

Founded by lead strategists, Cindy and Jeff Montgomery, the agency and its Dynamic Insight process were born in strategy and fueled by creativity. It’s the intersection of these two things that have made Ampersand a trusted partner of some of the most beloved brands out there.
Cindy has been shepherding accounts to success for more than 20 years and as the creator and leader of the agency’s Dynamic Insight process, she is responsible for delivering the right strategic framework for great creative development. Using Dynamic Insight, she has led dozens of national brands to successful creative campaigns, including Michael Angelo’s Frozen Foods, State Farm Insurance, Whole Foods Grocery, Stripes Convenience Stores, Brookshire Brothers, Jason’s Deli, Seton Hospital, and Celis Beers, to name a few.
Her special gift is the ability to find nuggets of truth that are critical in positioning brands effectively and differentiating them from competitors. Cindy focuses on amplifying pertinent connections between creative strategy and consumer need states, so that even among brands floating in a “sea of sameness,” the consumer can readily identify, affiliate, and emotionally connect with the brands that Ampersand represents.
A lifetime Texas-Ex and graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Cindy has worked for branding agencies big and small, including Leo Burnett and Ogilvy & Mather. She opened her first agency, Media Strategies, in Austin in 1997, and later merged with Montgomery & Associates in 2005 to create The Ampersand Agency. A foodie at heart, you can find her gardening, cooking, checking out the latest winery, and traveling the world over when she’s not leading the charge at Ampersand.
